Premium Shipping Boxes for Fragile Bottles, Cans & Jars
We know the struggle is real when shipping fragile items such as wine bottles, beer cans, candles & glass jars. Regular cardboard boxes don’t cut it. One bad drip and you’re dealing with breakage, refunds, and unhappy customers. That’s where Gorilla Shipper comes in.
Who are we?
Gorilla Shipper is a US-based supplier established in 2008. We have years of experience designing, sourcing and selling corrugated shipping boxes, specifically built for fragile containers. Everything that we make is engineered to take all sorts of beating during transit (because your products shouldn’t, right?). No matter whether you are shipping a single bottle or pallets worth of orders, for us, every box counts, and we have shipping boxes for fragile items that are built for the job.
What about compliance?
Our glass bottle shipping boxes meet USPS, FedEx, and UPS requirements, so you protect your products and stay compliant throughout transit. Because we design all our shipping boxes – for bottles, cans, and jars – from the ground up, you get a far better fit than anything off the shelf.
Why Choose Gorilla Shipper for Corrugated Shipping Boxes?
A box is only as good as what it is made of. Gorilla Shipper corrugated shipping boxes are built with a proper ECT rated board. Meaning the walls actually hold up under stacking pressure and rough handling during transit.
Here’s what sets us apart:
Our boxes include an insert-based protection system. Loose bottles moving around inside a box are one of the leading causes of breakage. The protective inserts that we use in our shipping boxes hold each container in place. That’s why there is no sliding, clinking, or broken glass.
We also offer bulk ordering with volume pricing for businesses of all sizes. Whether you’re a small candle brand or a large winery, buying shipping boxes wholesale from us means you’re not paying retail prieces every time you reorder. Whether you’re a growing ecommerce brand, a subscription box business, or a small business buying packaging supplies wholesale, our pricing is built to work in your favor.
Types of Shipping Boxes Available
Corrugated and pulp insert boxes designed for 750ml bottles, small bottles, cans, magnums, and even large format wine. Available in both single and multiple bottle configurations.
Designed for glass beer bottles and aluminum cans. Works well for craft breweries, subscription clubs, and ecommerce beverage brands.
Heavy duty options for spirits and liquor bottles, built to handle the weight and fragility of glass – especially for long-distance shipping.
Glass jar candles are fragile. Our protective candle shipping boxes include inserts that keep jars snug and stable in transit.
Whether you’re shipping mason jars, sauce jars, or honey jars, these jar shipping boxes work best for small batch food producers and ecommerce stores alike.
A general-purpose option for any glass bottle that needs impact resistance and a secure fit. A solid choice for small business owners shipping fragile glass regularly.
Not sure which one to choose? Just reach out to us, we will help you figure it out!
What Are the Different Types of Shipping Boxes for Fragile Products?
We actually make three main types of protective shipping boxes. And each works a little differently:
Gorilla Hexabox Shippers:
This is our patented design and what we are best known for. The hexagonal structure distributes weight evenly around the bottle, so even a side impact is absorbed by the box, not the container. ISTA 6-FedEx-A certified and available for bottles, cans, and jars across a wide range of sizes. The boxes are also 100% recyclable, which is a plus if sustainability matters to your brand.
Pulp Shippers:
Molded pulp inserts cradle each bottle individually inside a corrugated outer carton. The cartons lay flat before assembly and the inserts are nested and stacked, which saves significant storage space. A popular choice for wineries and beverage brands that ship in volume.
Foam Shippers:
Styrofoam-lined boxes keep temperature stable during shipping. If you you’re dealing with products that need thermal protection – especially in hot weather – foam shippers are worth considering. Available for 750 ml bottles, magnum, XL and large-format.
We also offer thermal protection – gel packs and insulated liners that pair with our Hexabox shipping boxes to keep products cold during transit. Wine clubs, breweries, and brands shipping temperature sensitive products usually go with this option.
All of these are heavy-duty shipping boxes compared to a standard retail carton, and they are built for the specific demands of parcel and ecommerce shipping.
Bulk Shipping Boxes & Wholesale Packaging for Growing Brands
Buying in bulk is one of the easiest ways to cut your per unit packaging cost. We offer tiered pricing: the more you order, the lower your cost per box. Our bronze tier starts at $1,000, silver at $2,000, and gold at $3,000+, with up to 15% off on qualifying orders.
Whether you’re running a subscription box business, an ecommerce store, or a winery that ships periodically, our volume pricing tiers make it easy to get packaging supplies wholesale without needing a massive minimum order. And the problem with not having enough space for packaging? You won’t face one, because we offer flat pack designs to reduce storage space (you won’t get any preassembled boxes that would take up half your warehouse space).
How to Choose the Right Shipping Box
Picking the right box comes down to a few key things:
Single wall vs. reinforced corrugated
Single wall corrugated is fine for light, nonfragile items. But if you are shipping glass bottles, heavy jars, or anything fragile, please make sure you get double walls and properly engineered ECT rated corrugated shipping boxes. The extra board strength makes a real difference, mainly when boxes are being tossed around in delivery trucks (we know it’s harsh).
Match box strength to product weight
Gorilla Shipper assures that each box is engineered with the correct edge crush test (ECT) and box strength for the number of containers you are shipping. The bottom of each carton has a weight capacity that should more than suffice for your containers.
Avoid oversized boxes
That’s a golden rule. Oversized cartons are just wasteful. These boxes increase dimensional weight charges with carriers. So make sure the box you are choosing is somewhat closer to the actual size of your product (your shipping cost will then go down drastically).
Use the right inserts
If you are shipping bottles and jars, you should definitely look into inserts. Our inserts hold each container individually, and that’s how the bottles don’t knock into each other during transit. If you are quite unsure about which insert would work for your product, we are happy to help you choose. When in doubt, select our shipper kits which always include the proper inserts for each carton.
Sustainable & Recyclable Corrugated Shipping Boxes
Sustainability matters to us. And obviously to a lot of brands and their customers.
All of our Hexabox corrugated shipping boxes are 100% recyclable and biodegradable. Our pulp inserts are made from molded fiber from post-consumer waste, one of the more environmentally responsible packaging materials out there. Even our foam options are designed with reusability in mind. If eco-friendly is part of your brand messag, our packaging can help tell that story.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on Shipping Boxes
Are shipping boxes for wine and beer legal to use for interstate shipping?
The boxes themselves are legal to use. However, shipping alcohol interstate is regulated by state laws and carrier policies. FedEx and UPS both ship alcohol, but you need to be a licensed business and comply with destination state rules. Our boxes meet all carrier packaging requirements.
What type of shipping box is best for glass bottles?
Corrugated shipping boxes with protective inserts are the best option for glass bottles. The insert holds each bottle in place so it can’t move around during transit. Our Hexabox and pulp shippers are both designed for this purpose.
